Hasan Ulukisa was born in Istanbul in 1994 and grew up in Linz, Austria. As a teenager, he was part of a theater collective, which sensitized him to art and culture while he pursued a technical education at HTL1 for Construction and Design. After gaining diverse professional experiences, he became increasingly interested in photography. While working in the social sector, he found his way to studying „time-based and interactive media art“ at the University of Art and Design Linz in 2017. In the spring of 2023 Hasan finished his BA studies in „time-based and interactive media art“. Currently he is employed at the culture department of the Linz Chamber of Labour.

In 2021 Hasan received recognition for his project titled „fragments of resistance.“ This audiovisual map explores the events surrounding the liberation of Vienna in 1945. It was honored with the „Ernst-Kirchweger-Gedenkpreis“ and exhibited at various venues including „BESTOFF21“ in Linz, „BESTOFF21 Sommerfrische“ in Gmunden, and since 2022 it is part of the permanent exhibition of the "Ottakring Bezirksmuseum" in Vienna.

Since 2019, Hasan has actively participated in assisting refugees in Bosnia and Herzegovina, documenting their experiences along the EU’s external border in collaboration with the NGO SOS Balkanroute. Motivated by the inspiring humanitarian efforts of numerous volunteers in both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Austria, Hasan created his work titled „blind spot.“ This series has been showcased at various exhibitions, including "Metamorph:WE" 2021, splace Hautplatz in Linz, "Rundgang 2021" at Kunstuniversität Linz, "Ars Electronica Festival" 2021 in Linz, "Gegenwart: Was nun? In his most recent work, titled „rural shades,“ Hasan explores the symbiotic relationship between nature and human beings in rural areas. The series delves into historical developments in Eastern Anatolia since the early 20th century, focusing particularly on the assimilation of different religious and ethnic minorities such as Alevis, Kurds, and Armenians. The series „rural shades“ has been exhibited at various venues, including "Situation der Unbestimmtheit" at WHA Gallery Linz in 2022, "BestOFF Sommerfrische" at Salzkammergutfestwochen Gmunden in 2022, "Parallel Vienna - Artist Statement" Semmelweißklinik Vienna in 2022, and "Atelier de Recherche" at Hinterland Gallery Wien in 2023. Additionally, it was featured in the exhibition „Im Auge der Infodemie“ at DORF TV and the Galerie der Kunstuniversität Linz in 2023, "POWER LINES", Salzamt Linz 2023, "Heimatfilmfestival Freistadt" at Salzhof 2023 and "Patterns of Disillusions", Galerie 5020 Salzburg 2024.
